FAQ
Is Clarus an AI writer?
No. Clarus coaches you, it does not write for you. The Writing Coach reads your work and gives feedback. Your words stay yours.
Will the coach rewrite my work?
No. The coach gives feedback. You decide whether to act on it. Clarus does not generate text or modify your writing without your input.
What does the coach actually analyze?
Clarity, structure, and flow. It does not check grammar or spelling. It reads like an editor, not a proofreader.
How is Clarus different from Grammarly?
Grammarly focuses on grammar errors, spelling mistakes, and style rule violations. Clarus focuses on whether your writing is clear, whether your structure makes sense, and whether your argument or narrative flows. Different job.
Does Clarus check grammar?
No. Clarus is not a grammar checker. If you want grammar and spelling checked, run your document through a spell-checker before or after using Clarus.
What happens to my documents?
Your documents are stored as standard markdown files. You own them. You can export a ZIP of all your documents at any time from your account settings. Canceling Clarus does not delete or lock your files.
Does Clarus work offline?
Clarus runs in your browser at app.clarus.page. An internet connection is required to access the app.
What file format does Clarus use?
Markdown (.md). With optional YAML front matter for metadata. Your documents work with Astro, Jekyll, Hugo, Gatsby, Next.js, and other markdown-compatible platforms.
Is my writing private?
Yes. See the privacy policy at clarus.page/privacy for details on how your data is handled.
Does Clarus write for me?
No. Clarus coaches you. The writing is yours. The feedback is from the coach. What you do with that feedback is up to you.
