Writing Newsletters with Clarus

If you publish a newsletter regularly, you likely have a workflow. Let’s build one in Clarus that does more than just fix typos. We’re here to catch what spell-check misses: weak openings, lost arguments, and places where your brilliant thoughts aren't shining.

Here’s a cycle designed for consistency, even when deadlines loom.

Your Weekly Rhythm

  1. Gather Ideas: Throughout the week, jot everything newsletter-worthy into a single, dedicated Clarus document. This is your ongoing ideas bank. No need to polish, just capture.
  2. Structure with an Outline: When it's time to write, transform that ideas doc into a structured draft. Use H2 headings to clearly sketch out the sections of your newsletter. This gives you a visible architecture.
  3. Draft & Go: Now, write from beginning to end. If you're facing a deadline, activate Sprint Mode – it strips everything away to give you pure writing space.
  4. Get Coached: After your draft is complete, let the Writing Coach review it. Specifically, focus on these questions: Does your opening immediately grab attention? Is your primary takeaway crystal clear? Does your ending leave a lasting impression?
  5. Final Polish: Implement your edits using Track Changes. This way, you can visually assess if each adjustment genuinely improves clarity and impact – or just alters things.

Staying Consistent

Consistency is key for successful newsletters. Here are a few habits to reinforce your authentic style:

  • Capture Your Voice: Maintain a separate "Voice Notes" document. Store frequently used phrases, sentence structures, and expressions that are distinctly you. Refer to it during the editing phase.
  • Trust Your Instincts: The Writing Coach is a guide, not a rulebook. Sometimes its suggestions might unintentionally flatten your natural tone. If a suggestion doesn't feel right, confidently disregard it.
  • Analyze Your Changes: Really look at your tracked edits. Are they adding weight, clarity, and punch? Or just shuffling around wording?

About Newsletter Feedback

The Writing Coach learns your style. Importantly, it understands that newsletters demand a unique balance. You'll receive feedback geared toward persuasion, readability, and engagement – not rigid academic standards. We’re aiming for connection, not correctness.
